Roger Williams Park & Zoo
Roger Williams Park was established in the 1800s after a family member of Providence-founder Roger Williams willed the land to the city. The urban park today is a familiar gathering place for Providence locals and a must-see destination for visitors to Rhode Island. Many of Rhode Island’s top attractions are located at Roger Williams Park. The Museum of Natural History & Planetarium is the only such facility in Rhode Island. At the Roger Williams Zoo, visitors can observe thousands of animals, including rare and endangered species. Carousel Village, with its carousel, bounce house, and playground is a dream come true for young children. Enjoy canoeing, paddle boating, and kayaking on the various lakes at Roger Williams Park. The marble-constructed Temple to Music is an iconic landmark of Roger Williams Park. Fun festivals, concerts, and other special events are held here throughout the year.
